What's with all this talk about the NY Giants being 'lucky' to win the Super Bowl?

I will admit that I am a Colts fan (since they were 3-13 way back when...I'm NOT a bandwagon fan!) so by default I'm an Eli fan, but all this crapolla talk about the Giants getting lucky is just nuts.

Had they only gone into Tampa and won...okay, they got lucky. But then to win IN Tampa and then in Dallas...okay, I MIGHT be persuaded to think they got lucky. But to win in Tampa, Dallas AND Green Bay...you would be very hard pressed to convince me of luck...Favre's interception would be the key to this.

But folks, please. They went on the road and beat Tampa, Dallas, Green Bay AND the Perfect Pats in the Super Bowl. There is just nothing you can do to convince me this was all just luck.

Besides, there is a part of me that LOVES that the Pats went down...seeing Brady on his fanny 5-6 times was a lovely thing.

So, someone tell me how it was all just luck?

What's with all this talk about the NY Giants being 'lucky' to win the Super Bowl?
No way it was luck. You only get lucky in the NFL when a ref makes a bad call that goes your way. The G-Men peaked at the right time and history shows that teams that can peak at the right time can win championships, that rule does apply to other sports as well. Eli ,s biggest shortcoming was all the INT's he threw in the regular season and only 1 the whole postseason and that ball should have been caught. The defence also played like champs as well. No other team harrassed Tom Brady like the Giants
Reply:It's either

A- Jealous Pats fans who's team lost

B- Jealous fans of teams that weren't in the superbowl
Reply:it wasnt all luck but the miracle play was luck and without it they wouldnt have won the game, so in part it was luck. they had a lot of things go their way that game without which they would have lost.
Reply:I don't know if it was all luck, but getting 3 shot's at the winning field-goal in greenbay, or the eli escaping the entire Pat's d-line on 3rd down, and what's his face making that extraordinary catch off his helmet might be luck....There is a little luck in every win in the NFL
Reply:Well, if it was luck. Then they got lucky two other times by beating the Cowboys and the Packers also.

Either way it doesn't matter. They won, that's all that matters.
Reply:I didn't watch any of those NFC games til the championship cuz I wanted to see Green Bay have a good game against my Pats, Okay Lawrence Tynes missed 2 kicks that were god awful I thought the Packers had it yes Favre threw a bad pass to end that season and gave the Giants the greatest shot in a million to win Tynes is lucky he got in range that third time around or else he wouldn't have made it and the Packers would've won and the Packers and Patriots would've had a well fought out Super Bowl 42

and Eli pulling a Houdini on the Pats D-line was a shocker like that play shouldn't have happened and then a catch to the velcro helmet (just kidding about the velcro but seriously) Just think of the Pats '01 season they beat the Raiders thanks to the Tuck Rule my fav. rule lol and then used old Bledsoe in the steelers game the first he had played since he had got hurt and won and then took down the Rams the big powerhouse of that time.it doesn't seem like either of those 2 seasons shouldn't have happened
Reply:There is no luck, the Giants wanted it more. Look in the back of the Super Bowl caps, it will say that, "We wanted it more".
Reply:the new york giants are the luckiest team to ever win a superbowl

they were one game away from missing the playoffs and every team they played in the playoffs had the worst games of their entire season. there qb is eli manning for gods sake.

the new giants give hope to every sucky team out there that you can win the superbowl with a shitload of luck
Reply:History repeats itself? Has everyone forgot the 2001 Patriots and their march to the superbowl , and beating the Greatest Show on Turf? How lucky were the Patriots? Goback and compare Luck !!! And by the way I HATE THE PATRIOTS and the Lies They Tell !!!!!
Reply:i have a video to prove that the New England Patriots should have won Super Bowl 42

watch and be amazed
Reply:Teams make their own luck, through being in the right place at the right time. No medals for trying....the team hoisted the Lombardi Trophy; enough said.
Reply:Every team they faced had the worst game of the season...because the Giants were punching them in the mouth. They handed each of those teams a steady dose of manhandeling. Eli was very efficient, the running game was very steady, and the D was just dominate. They played the best ball in the playoffs. No other team played as well as them when it counted.
Reply:it was mostly luck, they were lucky to even have been there

patriots lost by 3 points, hardly a landslide, it could have went either way
Reply:They are the luckiest team because this team could easily go 5-11 next year.. Also the catch by David Tyree should have NEVER happened
Reply:They played well.

The Tyree catch was the "luckiest" thing that happened.

EVERYTHING went right on that play from Manning getting away from a sack to Harrison breaking Tyree's fall to the ground.

They were very fortunate on that 1 play and in great part to that play they won the Super Bowl
Reply:Nope, they got what they deserved. A championship by beating everyone in their path. It does matter if they won a "lucky" game they still won and will go down in history as the champs.
Reply:plain and simple, they are the worst team ever to win a super bowl! are you happy? they went on a lucky streak and capitilized! dont expect a repeat, they'll be ok at best next year. i predict 9-7
Reply:Are you that dumb? The Pats are the best team ever. Just because we played like complete crap in ONE game, the G-Men (Gay-Men) still only won by 3. Let's see any other team go 18-1. It was just stupid luck! You have to really be retarded to think the NY Giants are a better team.
